How kbmMW™ saved the dayPeter Murad, Hopemed

One of my customers, a trucking company, received a big delivery contract
for 200 stores a day, which required them to open a new office immediately in a
distant location. The location had only low speed access (56k) , and the order
entry and delivery application they were using was written in VB 3.0 with Access
2.0 as the backend. Because of the remoteness of the location, they had staffing
problems and therefore needed to be able to enter data to the system remotely,
in real time.
Initially, we tried PC Anywhere, but it was too slow. We assumed terminal
server would be as well. I tried another 3rd party product similar to kbmMW™,
but I could not get it to handle 3 databases at the same time. Finally, with
kbmMW™ and with 2 hours consulting time with Kim Bo Madsen, I was able to get a
remote order entry program working, that handles three databases,
simultaneously.
The response time of the application was immediate- I couldn't believe
it!
How was it done? At the remote location, I installed the BDE and attached it
to the Access 2.0 databases. Then, using the kbmMW™ objects, I created a server
that provided information from all 3 databases. The server had some very basic
SQL statements that served up data based on the store's ID number. It was that
simple. When the client connected to the server, it provided the store ID number
and the name of a SQL statement, the server then returned the information set
based on that criteria. The company has been using the program for 2 weeks now
without any problems.
They keep requesting more features and so far I have been able to add them
without any difficulty.
Thank you components4developers,
Sincerely,
Peter Murad
